LIXI Profiler Scanning Techniques

The LIXI Profiler responds to everything in the beam – jacketing, insulation, contents, pipe and all components of any material. The two most common types of scans are Axial, parallel to the centerline of the pipe, and Slice, which runs perpendicular to the axis of the pipe.
The operating technician uses these two types of common scans as well as others to quickly locate indications of pipe defects, abnormalities or healthy pipe and components.

Axial

The Axial Scan is parallel, along the centerline of the pipe.

This video demonstrates examples of different motions a technician may use to obtain readings. This scan is used to collect results (graph) along the pipe.

Slice

The Slice Scan is perpendicular , across the axis of the pipe.

This video demonstrates examples of different motions a technician may use to obtain readings. This scan is used to collect results (graph) across the pipe.
